Often times the beauty of celebrating the engagement can be overlooked. I loved how Marilynne and Henri put together an intimate dinner for their friends and family with little details that spoke to the care they have for their closest and dearest. Every element lent to creating a warm atmosphere to enjoy good conversation over a delicious meal. Here is some inspiration for you, if you are planning to mark your engagement season with a commemorative evening.
I would love to photograph your unique engagement dinner- feel free to send me a note about your event!

If you are anything like me right now you are currently taking this Sunday afternoon easy. Curled up in a blanket, eating freshly baked biscuits with a cup of red raspberry leaf tea (okay that one might just be for the prenatal mamas). I'ts been a slower paced winter as I prepare for my babe to enter this world. He or she could be here potentially in just over a week from now! Or in three weeks.. If baby really wants to wait until the due date. Which gives me just enough time to send out the last of my sessions.
This snowy engagement was full joy which has been a theme of my life lately. Seeking out the joy, choosing to focus on the good when life doesn't seem to be offering it freely. It was deceivingly cold outside with the wind chill, but these two beautiful souls couldn't be bothered by the cold. Their love overflows, their kindness radiates and I have a feeling this encounter happens with everyone they meet. David and Rebekah's wedding will be one of the first I will photograph this spring. I feel honoured to be able to witness their day so close and personally. Here are a few of my favourites from their collection.
This past October I had the pleasure of attending the Magnolia Rouge photography workshop -Forage and Fern. It was such a wonderful get away for me nearing the end of my busiest season. A place of refreshment where I could meet other photographers and live in community with like-minded creatives while practicing and growing in my craft. Placed on Galiano Island at a hearty retreat center, Bodega Ridge hosted us with grace and kindness. We were served 5 star cuisine three times a day while learning from the greats of our industry and soaking up the last of the fall season.
Kate Holland put together a start line up of talented vendors Jacob Brooks from Brumley and Wells, Annie Brooks from The Wells Makery, Katie Davis from Ponderosa and Thyme, Jess Wilcox, Jonathan Canlas, Belinda Olsen, Chris of LOV media, Charla Storey- These individuals were skilled in transcending their talent into a teaching platform with practical and relateable content. I left Forage and Fern having grown in my photography skills as well as feeling soulfully inspired.
To Kick things off for my Forage and Fern image collections here are two of my favourite people I met on Galiano- Maja and Alex.
